14 days Cheques clearing waiting period

I've just got disappointed about the response I got from Dimakatso at Call centre who told me that my cheque will clear after 14 days, I deposited a cheque on the 7th and thought it might take few days to clear, when I asked if I can do a special clearance, she told that even if I do a special clearance, I need to have a letter from the bank that issued the cheuqe and a letter from the issuer in order to clear it for me and that request might take up 8 to 10 days to clear in my account. if this is the service that I am going to endure from your institution, I'd rather cut ties with your institution and go back to my old bank institution. If the Teller would have told me that cheques takes such period to clear, I wouldn't have deposited it.
