14 Day Salary Cheque Clearance

I was paid by cheque for my final salary payment.

On Saturday 01 October, I deposited the cheque at Walmer Park branch. I was assured, by Chantelle, that the cheque clearance department would confirm employment on Monday 03 October and clear the cheque accordingly.

By Tuesday 04 October, the payment still had not been cleared. I was informed, by Justin, at the Grand Central Cape Town branch that the cheque was deposited and would take 14 days to clear.

This is unacceptable, as it is now 06 October, and I still have been unable to pay my rent. My landlord has begun eviction procedures.

I am very disappointed in the service from Capitec, as I have been a loyal customer for years. I could have cashed the cheque at Standard Bank, as it was uncrossed and paid to order, instead, I chose to give Capitec the business. They are now able to lend against that amount, and I receive NO benefits, thereof.

I expect a reply and resolution.
