Won't return any items

I was given 2 items from the lot to the value of R1300 for Christmas. This was bought on the 22 Dec. when I returned from holiday at the beginning of January I called the store in canal walk and they said no problem to exchange. My husband who bought the items also specifically made sure about the return policy as he knew we were not here. When I got to the store they would not accept my return and wouldn't let me take something else. Only reason was because the garments didn't fit me and I would have liked to take something else. I was given an email address and no contact person. I emailed and the response I got was \we cannot allow exchange"I calle back many times and spoke to a gentleman who was the store manager he always said he'd get back to me and I waited weeks with no call. I eventually called back and they said no exchange and still have not given me a top person that I can speak to about this. I refuse to buy from this store again and I think they are very unprofessional."""
