Worst Service IVE EVER received from a petrol station. SHOCKED AT HOW CALTEX treated me as a customer after trying to do the right thing.
On the 29th of Jan, I was returning a car that I had hired from the Cape town airport. The car had to be returned before 1pm to avoid being charged for another day. I decided to fill petrol at the Caltex Airport City Garage. When i arrived i waited for assisted and no one came, so i went into the shop to buy something. When i returned i asked an Attendance by the name of Vee to assist me, i specifically asked him to please be fast as i had to return the car. A colleague if his then came to Vee and asked for his assistance with another car that had come after me. I pleaded with him to please finish with me as i was in a rush, but he just ignored my request and left my car and assisted his colleague. I could not believe was I was witnessing as i had a few minutes to spare before it would be 1pm. I then got into my car and began to drive off as i was not being attended to. When he saw that i was driving of, he stopped me and asked me to pay, i then told him that i was about to leave due to his poor service he then rep**** by saying "it's fine you can run the police will catch you". i then tapped my card and left, when i existed the garage, he ran into the road and advised that the card had declined possibly due to the network then he asked me to come back into the garage. I told him again that i was in a rush, offered him my ID and driver's license as assurance that i would return he declined to take it and insisted that i go back into the garage. I then left him there as he was failing to understand that i would have to pay another R1000 for another day of car hire because im was late all for R50 petrol. I dropped the car of and immediately returned to the garage. When i entered the store Vee was in the Managers office telling the Manager that i had ran without paying. I then explained to him that i had returned to pay for the R50 petrol, however in future he must learn to respect people as he should have never left a customer, he was helping to assist another car more so after i had explained that i was late. Vee then shouted at me in front of the whole store even his manager witnessed this. His exact words were "he doesn't care and it's not his problem if i am late, he will always help his colleague if they are in need" We then got into a heated argument as i could not believe i was being shouted at. I then went to the manager Selwyn we looked at the footage which verified my side of the story. The manager even noticed that i had been waiting for a long time on the camera's, i told the manager i wanted to log a complaint. He said someone higher than him would contact me. Today is Thursday and no one has contacted me. My complaint is not about me being late, im complaining about the fact that you can never start serving a customer then leave them to help another customer who came after you that's just common sense. Secondly you do not shout at a customer like you own the shop and tell them that what you did was correct, and you would do it again. There are very high tensions in this country at the moment of foreigners taking jobs, this scenario made me see the other horrible side. Im not going to let this go, ive started with Hello Peter and i am not going to stop until something is done about this. We all work in a customer orientated environment if i had to speak to a customer at my work like that i WOULD BE FIRED.
