WHAT A SHAME

<p>I love Cadbury chocolate, I buy it often. Cadbury (or Mondeleze?) is currently running a Martians promotion where they are giving away Martian figurines. If you buy four qualifying products, obtain the special code inside each wrapper you are entitled to claim one of these Martian figurines. All you need to do is register on their website, enter the four collected codes and you will receive a redemption code. You must then take this code, together with your ID, to any Engen Quickshop to claim your figurine.</p> <p>I did all of this, exactly as per instruction. The cashier at Engen Quickshop (de Grendel Rd, Bothasig) tried a few times to enter the code but seemed to be having some difficulty, and then promptly concluded that the code had already been used. But the message on the cashier's terminal was repeatedly showing "CANCELLED". Cancelled suggests manual intervention? Anyway I'm not pointing fingers. The cashier then produced a telephone number to contact, an 0800 number.</p> <p>Upon returning home the number was contacted, only to be given more numbers to contact. This is starting to sound like a ****. So, after three telephone calls and a promise of a call-back, I am still waiting. I refuse to make any more calls as this figurine is now starting to incur cost.</p> <p>I don't really care for the Martian figurine, it would have just been a spinoff of my love for chocolate, something my kids can benefit from. But I'm afraid the taste of Cadbury products will forever leave a bitter aftertaste in my mouth now. What a shame... I regret contemplating my participation in the promotion in the first place as it has now ruined a perfectly good friendship.</p>
