CTM Shower Glass Door Shatters
2 weeks ago, we purchased the CrystalTech St. Marco Chrome Corner Entry Shower Enclosure. After installation, we used the shower on the 03rd day. My 9 nine year son went in and as he was closing the door, it shattered to pieces leaving him with 5 cuts on his hand. The next day, my husband reported the incident to CTM Pinetown only to be told that they are not responsible and also that we did not use a qualified shower door installer. My husband then decided to replace the door and bought another piece and fittings etc. Got a professional installer this time who was recommended by CTM. Person came and fitted the door etc. He said that there shouldn't be a problem now. On day 2 after the second installation, my husband went into the shower and as he was closing the door, the glass shatters again while his hand was still on the handle. This left him with deep slits on his hand. He contacted the installer who advised that he will contact the manufacturer. Also he contacted CTM and was advised that they cannot do anything until the manufacturer provides feedback. Feedback was thereafter received this morning by the manufacturer only to be told that they will replace door which shattered. Bearing in mind that this door has been replaced twice in one week is unacceptable. The option of replacing with a new shower enclosure or refund was not up for discussion. I do not want to replace, I have replaced twice already. My concern as a parent that this door shattered twice in one week, I have 2 little children that could have been seriously injured. This is unacceptable, you cannot sell a product that malfunctions and expect the customer to keep replacing. This is not dealing with the problem. Must we now wait for the 3rd instance to occur for us to get any kind of customer satisfaction. I do not accept that they cannot do anything about this and not willing to take this product back. Claiming that they have sold hundreds of the same door and had no issues doesn’t mean anything to me. The fact that 2 members of my family were injured this past week is proof enough. Are we now expected to have our entire family injured to have get action. CTM need to look at their returns policy. This is not good customer service.
