Buffalo is discreetly over-charging us on VAT!

I’m convinced they are just thumb sucking the amounts at this point 😤 I ordered one human hair wig from Shein on Sunday and i paid a total of R1018 for my order. After that I received a customs email from Buffalo and it was R542.80??? That’s over half the amount of my actual order. I looked at the invoice and the duty fee was R241.20 and VAT was R243.80 HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE when VAT in SA is supposed to be 15%??? I am aware that customs have increased now and I can understand the duty fee, what I’m failing to understand is why the VAT was inflated? This is so confusing 🫤 I made a TikTok video about it and several other people commented that their amounts were severely inflated too and some people ordered the same thing I did but got charged around R700. Something is very fishy.
