"SABS Approved" Claims, Two Cracked Windscreens and No Accountability
I am very disappointed with the quality of the windscreens supplied through BSG and the way my complaint has been handled.
This is the second windscreen I have had installed through them that has developed an unexplained crack. The first was fitted to my Hyundai i10 at BSG The Glen in late 2024 or early 2025. One morning, I woke up to a large crack without any visible chip beforehand. At the time, I thought something might have fallen onto the windscreen overnight and gave the business the benefit of the doubt.
More recently, I had a windscreen installed on an BMW F20. Less than two months after installation, I woke up to another large crack with no visible prior chip or known impact. The crack continues to spread. Experiencing the same issue twice has seriously affected my confidence in the quality and durability of their glass.
The business claims that the glass has been checked and approved by SABS. Given my experience, I would like them to provide documentation confirming this approval and investigate why both windscreens developed these cracks.
I have been communicating with the technician who install the recent windscreen , but the matter remains unresolved. From what he has told me, he has also struggled to get a clear response from the BSG Jet Park branch. Meanwhile, I am left with a damaged windscreen and growing concerns about my safety, especially with hotter weather approaching, which a normal quality checked windscreen should be able to withstand.
I initially went to BSG JHB but they did not have stock, so they arranged for a sister branch (Jet Park) to carry out the installation which was a house call . I was also not provided with an invoice for the recent installation. I expected proper documentation and after-sales support regardless of where the installation took place.
I would appreciate a proper investigation, a copy of my invoice, confirmation of the claimed SABS approval, and a clear resolution. The repeated cracking and lack of effective follow-up have been deeply disappointing.
