Company creates chip on windscreen to not replace the factory issued windscreen

I had a new windscreen for my Peugeot installed by one of the affiliates of BSG at a reasonable price. At that time, I was very happy with the install. about a week later a small crack appeared as if by magic on the driver's side of the window. I looked for any chips and such and then contacted the installation company. After inspection they agreed that it was a factory error. The next day they removed the windscreen to take it back to BSG for replacement. At BSG they suddenly explained that there was a chip that caused the crack. The problem is that the before and after pictures show clear as daylight that someone at BSG created a small chip so that they did not need to replace the windscreen. Several colleagues actually warned me beforehand that BSG's windscreens are not up to standard (3 of my colleagues to be precise)
