SMS about a debt I know nothing about.

I received an SMS an hour ago from Brooks and Luyt saying I have a TFG Personal Loan debt in arrears of R4022.00.

What is a TFG Personal Loan? I Googled and found one by TymeBank and another by Truworths. I haven't taken out a loan in over a decade with any bank/store, much less these two. This is also the first time I'm receiving an SMS about this.

I know Brooks and Luyt isn't at fault here, but I'd like to know who the bank/store/company I'm "owing" is so I can contact them and find out how a loan was taken out against my name without my knowledge.

I'd appreciate your help.

Good afternoon,

Please be advised that I have yet to receive an email response from the person who my matter was escalated to. The automatic email reply said I would receive feedback in 24hrs.

I sent my email on Friday and thought I'd get a response on Saturday (since the automatic reply said you guys are open on Saturdays). Now it's the end of day on Monday, and still no response.

Also, I received another SMS today saying that the same debt/arrears is now R3521.08. How is the debt lower than it was a few days ago when I didn't make any payments towards it? And again, who provides TFG Personal Loans? I would like to contact them and query how a loan was taken out in my name without my involvement.

The recent message with a suddenly lower amount owing makes me think this could be a phishing attempt from a malicious third party that is imitating Brooks and Luyt. Please let me know if I show up in your system so I can take it up with the relevant loan provider. If I don't show up, then I know the messages are a phishing attempt and I can ignore them.

Please let me know urgently so I can be put out of my misery.

Kind regards.

Good morning.

Kindly note that I received yet another SMS this morning. Are these SMSs genuine or not? Also note that I still haven't been contacted by anyone. I've received no reponses to my initial and follow up emails. I want everything in writing so please refrain from trying to reach me on the phone.

This seems to be the only channel where I get any (automated) replies, so can we solve this here? What details do you need from me in order for my questions to be answered?

My questions are simple, so please provide answers so I can contact these TFG loan providers and/or move on with my life.

Regards.
