Misleading, Dishonest & Intimidating – Now Trading as CSS Solutions
I am writing this review to warn others about the ********* and manipulative practices of Brook & Luyt Attorneys — now operating under the name CSS Solutions, possibly to escape the growing number of complaints against them.
They are currently handling a loan account that is over 9 years old, which I previously held with Standard Bank. After visiting the bank TWICE, I was told they no longer manage the loan and could not assist me further — no paperwork, no help, just it’s with the attorneys now.
Brook & Luyt falsely claimed I made a payment of R6007, when in fact, this was an insurance payout, confirmed directly by Standard Bank. They are trying to use this to make the loan look “active” again — even though I didn’t make that payment myself. This is incredibly dishonest.
They have now threatened that I’m “close to judgment”, even though I haven’t signed or acknowledged anything with them — and haven’t made payments in years. This loan should be prescribed in terms of South African law.
Their call centre agents are rude, unprofessional, and intimidating. When I asked for proper proof or paperwork, I was met with arrogance and bullying tactics — including pressure to pay or risk legal action.
I formally requested all future communication be in writing, because of their disrespectful conduct over the phone.
I have now escalated this matter to the Ombudsman for Banking Services because neither Standard Bank nor Brook & Luyt can provide the proper legal documentation or clarity.
It’s becoming clear why they’re now trading under a different name. It’s not about service — it’s about chasing people down for old debts with ************ and false information. If you’re being harassed by them, do not pay or acknowledge anything until you speak to a legal advisor or the Ombudsman.
