Frustrated! Still no Settlement Letter!
I had an FNB Credit Card which was handed over to Brooks and Luyt last year, as I went through some financial challenges and missed a few payments. I agreed to the payment terms and the money was taken from my account each month as a debit order. Every month I received numerous calls and sms's, reminding me to pay my FNB credit card, when there was already a debit order in place. I also had messages to urgently call them, only to be told that everything was already in place on the system! I eventually just ignored the calls and sms's. The debit orders went through successfully each month. In April I called to find out what the settlement amount on my debt was, as I knew I was close to paying it off. The settlement amount was R460. I was also informed that the Credit Bureau would be notified immediately once the debt had been settled, and I would receive a Settlement Letter within 7 to 14 days. On 26th April R1100 was taken off which was the usual debit order amount. I called immediately and was told that I would be reimbursed the overpayment, but had to email 3 month's worth of bank statements to Alec Tshabalala. Their error, plus they have all my banking details because of the debit order! I finally received the reimbur*****t 3 weeks later, and am still waiting for the Settlement Letter, more than a month after the debt was settled. The frustration and inconvenience is exhausting. I have a Bond Application which is waiting to proceed once the Settlement Letter arrives and my name is cleared. It's like they don't care - you're just a number and a voice on the phone. Also, there is no 'paper trail', as everything is done telephonically. I wonder if they would have continued deducting the debit order if I hadn't inquired about the settlement amount?!!
