Brooks & Luyt / ABSA

1) I've settle my personal loan account last month (28 June 2017), taking advantage of the 20% discount. To date ABSA has not yet updated my account. I've requested a settlement letter from Brooks & Luyt, and I am always told that I'll receive it "soon", which never happens. There is no communication between Brooks & Luyt and ABSA. I was told that it's up to me to inform the bank of the settlement.

2) When calling ABSA to rectify the account, they say that Brooks & Luyt should send them the updated records and changes. When calling Brooks & Luyt, I am told that ABSA is supposed to request the records from Brooks & Luyt. As a result no-one does anything.

3) I have access to my credit repor, and for the period that Brooks & Luyt have been handling my account, my credit report shows that the account is >150 days in arrears, despite the fact that my debit orders with Brooks & Luyt have been deligently paid at the end of every month. Once again, the lack of communication with the bank has resulted in my credit record remaining tarnished, despite all my efforts to clear my record. Furthermore, all this time while my debit orders have been paid at the end of every month, ABSA also keeps trying to retrieve the full balance of the loan from an old cheque account that has been closed from some time already. This obviously bounces, and negatively influences my credit record.

4) The debit orders from Brooks & Luyt would go off at the end of the month (between 25th and 28th), but would only reflect in my account on the 10th of the following month. As a result ABSA continues to load interest and charges against my account for the late payment, and during this time Brooks & Luyt earns interest on the funds they've debited. At this rate my account would never be settled, and once again, the late payments, reflect negatively against my credit record.

I have experience with other attorneys, who have been more professional. Brooks & Luyt are the only attorneys who are this disorganised. They need to be audited. I aknowledge that there has been one person who has been helpful, namely Palesa, however overall the organisation is flawed.
