Claim 503935/ ***2*001*001 I had car Insured with Active by ABSA of which I took based on their Reviews and high rate of happy clients and without even checking with me Absa Vehicle Finance initiated a deal with this insurer admin being Being Brolink on my behalf of which I know based on the contract they may do so, provided I don't have insurance but they didn't check with me if I had one, after I realized this I called in and Advised I had an active cover but no one amended and had to cancel Active by Absa as I was now paying two insurances, Fast forward my car got written off and its me now suffering at the hands of Both Hollard/Brolink and the Insurance that they Forced my hand into taking
Absa Vehicle finance has now debited me R12772 and say its the Interest that resulted from Hollard/Brolink by not paying against a Settlement letter as they one they requested had expired and Hollard/Brolink refuses to make things right as they say they have a grace period but Absa refuses that they don't know of any grace period Hollard/brolink should have asked for an updated Settlement letter before paying
Below is feedback from Absa:
"Good day
In response to your email and our telephone conversation
Please be advised that both payments from your Comprehensive and Extended cover Policy were received
Unfortunately Comprehensive Insurance did not pay within the specified period(between 18 June to 26 June), see below breakdown:
Settlement quote of R465,784.40 on 18/07/2014(this was the only settlement quoted)
Less Insurance payment of R457,321.90 on 05/07/2024(Insurance paid 16 days later)
Balance of R8,462.50 outstanding(paid by Absa Insurance Shortfall claim) on 30/07/2024
Please note client’s debit order R12,772.00 went off client’s account on 30/07/2024(should be refunded back to client), but because of the interest accumulated on account due to the late payment from the Insurer, our system only shows that we can only refund client -R1,158.94 out of R12,772.00 and client is not happy about it
Insurance was supposed to request an updated settlement quote prior to processing payment
I guess Insurance must sort out the difference with the client"
Brolink Paid 16 days from Settlement making it Two days late from allowed period by ABSA as per statement Below which they claim allows them the privileged to make me owe the bank R12772
"The Settlement Letter is System Generated and Cannot Differentate between Insurance settlements and Dealer Settlements, However as I Confirmed with Brolink we will accept payment within 14 days from Settlement Date"
