Brolink: The Poor, The Bad & The Ugly

1. ABSA Insurance which is underwritten by (or works through/with) Brolink Insurance is not only PATHETIC but they are DISHONEST & ***********. 2. In mid-December 2018 my sister bumped into a donkey in Grahamstown (now Makhanda) and the incident was reported to you. Between the time of reporting and when an assessor was called took about three weeks. 3. By that time my sister had to return to Cape Town for work where she was teaching. She left her car and the car was picked up in early January 2019, transported to Cape Town and fixed and was ready to be picked up towards the end of February 2019. By that time, my sister had started another job teaching in Gauteng. 4. I picked up the car towards the end of February 2019. I must also state that I, as her brother, was and am registered as a secondary driver to her car. Nonetheless, she bought another car to use in Gauteng and left the other one in Cape Town. She put her second car, the one she uses in Gauteng, also under the same insurance. 5. The above experience left a lot to be desired but due to the December period my sister had thought that the inefficiency was caused by that period of the year. 6. To the current complaint:

7. On the rainy morning of 24 July 2019 I was driving to work on the N2 enroute Cape Town. I was behind a white Range Rover. (Please check the weather for this day.) 8. Between the Bhunga & Jakes Gerwel turnoffs, a taxi cut in front of the Rover in front of me. The Rover slammed breaks. I slammed breaks. But my car skid for about 2 metres before bumbing the rear left of the Rover. 9. I avoided a full frontal collision and collided with the my frontal right of the car. 10. Fortunately, a traffic officer approached us within minutes and escorted both of to the Athlone Police Station. 11. The accident number is: 152/07/2019 12. This was reported and the Reference Number: *** was given on the 25th July 2019. 13. On the 26th July 2019 a text was sent to my sister which requested an email be sent with more details. All of this was sent via email, attached pictures of the both cars, my driver’s license, I was asked to draw up another accident sketch- which I did and sent the email to Takalani Madzhie on this day. 14. No response was received until my sister called again on the 31 July, upon she was informed that more info was required- namely the dashboard with the kilometres and the license disk. This was sent on the same day. 15. Since then my sister remained patient, with no way forward regard information and/or what would be done. 16. On the 8th August my sister called Takalani and he informed her that they had booked a panel beater in Vereeniging instead of one in Cape Town. Upon being reminded that the car is in Cape Town, he said it was his colleague who had done that and that my sister would be called back on the following day. 17. The following day, 9th August 2019, was a public holiday in South Africa called Women’s Day. Now, the call did not come. And we are left not sure if this was a genuine error or a delay tactic. Another issue is how can a panel beater be booked before even sending an assessor? 18. As things stand, we still don’t know where the process is, how long it will take or what to do. 19. Noting that this is the second incident to happen, where service has been lacklustre, unprofessional and pathetic to say the least. 20. I have also advised my sister to 1) lodge a complaint against you with the Ombudsman and 2) to disassociate herself with your services moving forward. Lastly, should no progress be noted even this week, I will take it upon myself to start a social media campaign exposing your shoddy work and sickening attitude.

Reviewer Update
1. My sister called again this afternoon, after letting her hold for the longest time, they asked for the person handling the claim, of which Takalani is the person, and she was told to hold for a longer period and sent from pillar to post.
2. She finally demanded to speak to the Manager because it was becoming ridiculously long & tedious. Thats when they (you Brolink) asked for her ID number to view where the claim is.
3. Following this, she was informed that the report that was captured by Takalani has to be reworked entirely because he made a number of errors on it; this includes selecting a panel beater in Vereeniging instead of Cape Town. Why must she suffer for your incompetence?
4. Im still confused as to which comes first, an assessor or the panel beater- as no one has come nor organised to assesss the car.
5. When can I expect a response or an email regarding this? Because you have not indicated that.
