They Lie to you

I often travel to Windhoek from Cape Town and my business partner travels from Durban. We try and get into Windhoek and out again at similar times for obvious reasons. I tend to take the Airline flight out at 15:00 and my partner the Comair flight at 14:55 (BA6274). We travel this route often and have experienced problems many times. However, the last experience, yesterday was the cherry on the cake. We arrived at the airport 2 hours before the flight and were sitting outside before going through security. We happened to bump into some friends who were coming to collect someone on the inbound BA flight from Johannesburg and while we were chatting , he got a message saying their flight had been delayed by 2 hours. As this was the plane that my partner was supposed to be outbound on, we proceeded to the BA desk to enquire as to what was going on. We were told that the person at the desk had contacted the operations manager and the flight would be landing in 5 minutes, so no delay. On this basis we checked through, only to discover that there was no BA plane on the apron (if you have been through the security and customs at Windhoek's airport, you will know this takes a while). Anyhow at boarding call, it was announced that the BA flight was delayed by two hours, meaning my partner would miss her connect to Durban and seeing there were no later flights to Durban, would have to spend the night in Johannesburg.

This is not the first time this has happened with this flight, so beware, if you need to get from Windhoek to Johannesburg at a certain tine - avoid the BA flight and rather fly SAA or Air Namibia. Avoid BA if you are on a schedule!!!!!!!
