****** LUGGAGE - DISGRACEFUL SERVICE & ATTITUDE!!!

On the 16th November 2015 I returned to Port Elizabeth from JHB after competing in the 94.7 cycle race. My bike was packed in a re-inforced bicycle specific carton box. Bike, wheels, components and tools were all individually bubble wrapped to protect against mishandling during transit. (Bicycle is worth R50 000 hence my very careful and specific packaging methodology). When I received my box with bicycle in at PE airport the box was ripped open on the one side. I immediately saw that my tool bag containing all my tools were emptied and only the bag stuck back in the box. I immediately reported this to British Airways. They gave me a case number and said they would conduct an investigation. After a week I phoned them to find out what is going as I did not receive any feedback. Their conclusion is that I packed the bike into the box like that and that's the reason the tools \fell"out. I explained to them that due to the contents & value of the box I would never transport my bike in a box that is not 100% intact and sealable. I packed and taped the box myself to secure it - full roll of box tape was used!<br> Still no word from BA. Shocking and disgusting attitude and service. """
