Staff with attitudes

It is very sad when I get told that I must repack my carry on luggage because it exceeds 7 kg when my check in luggage merely weighs 13kg. The check in clerk tells me that I WILL repack my laptop into the guitar bag right now because she is telling me what is best for me! -A rude little youngster, tarnishing the reputation if the airline. At no stage did I refuse to pay and gladly paid 350 rands for the inconvenience of 1 kg. it is certainly not a case of sour g*****, but merely stinking attitude from service attendants. How disappointed i am that i decided to fly on BA. For the premium cost of flying with them you would expect friendly and helpful staff. Never again will i visit the \friendly city"on british airways! shocking to say the least! Come on BA!"""

Hello DEN001GP,

Thank you for your post.

Customers are allowed 1 piece of hand baggage which may not exceed the dimensions of 56 x 36 x 23cm. They are allowed an additional handbag, laptop, briefcase or vanity case on board which should weigh 7kgs together with the main piece of hand baggage. According to your complaint, your hand baggage exceeded these dimensions and therefore the agent advise you to repack your baggage.

I am sorry that you felt the agent was rude. Although she was following procedure, this matter could have been handled in differently. I will discuss your concerns with the airport managers to address with the staff.

Thank you for being in touch with us and allowing me the opportunity to explain.

Yours Sincerely,
Nazley Samuels
