Shocking British Airways experience
My daughter and her family, consisting of her husband and two small boys, aged 2 and 5, booked on British Airways Reference number 2YC927. On the outbound journey they were allocated completely unsuitable seats, despite attempting to change them, which ruined their flight, upset a passenger sitting in front of them who complained throughout the flight, were not given meals for the children, the arm rests did not go up which added to the stressful situation and the Velcro on my daughters seat was incorrectly placed and ruined her jersey and her scarf. <br> In order to try and ensure that they were allocated better seats on their return flight later today she contacted Customer Care but was told she could only check in after 6 pm last night and when she eventually managed to get on line found they had been allocated even worse seats than before. Any other more suitable options disappeared when she tried to change them. We have spent hours on the phone to British Airways and they say 'bad luck'. They also left their pram in Manchester. All in all dreadful service and a bad attitude which resulted in my daughters flight being an expensive and dreadful experience.
Thank you for your post. I am sorry for the inconvenience caused to your daughter and her family whilst using our services.
Seating on BA/Comair flights is subject to availability. Customers are able to check-in online 24hours prior to departure and therefore your preferred seats may not be available when you arrive at the check-in counters. We are not allowed to take away seats from other customers. The only way to secure your preferred seats is to check-in online early. Please note, the arm rests on our aircraft cannot be lifted. I am sorry about your daughter's jersey and scarf that were ruined. I will address this matter with our maintenance department.
According to the booking, child meals were not booked for the domestic BA/Comair flights. Meals need to be booked 48hours in advance.
Please could you log your British Airways International complaint online www.ba.com as we only deal with domestic and regional flights within SA.
Kind Regards,
Nazley CR
