I am very very upset, im flying to port elizabeth from or tambo tomorrow morning, im taking my 11week old puppy with, omg what a shlep, now i have to book her in at cargo, and what ****es me off, i understand that they need a vet card with all the necessary vaccines, but because she is under 3 months, i have to have a copy of the mothers vet card with vaccines, this is complete ********, *** does the mother have to have with the baby. I will definitely not fly british airways again, previously there was no such thing, i could always check her in with me, no i have to run around to cargo, and the they say its so much simpler, yeah right

Hello hein26,

Thank you for your post.

As of 04 May 2015, we no longer accept domestic pets or live animals at our check-in counters -the exclusion is service dogs trained by Guide Dog Association of South Africa and other organizations affiliated with Assistance Dogs International and the International Guide Dog Federation).
The new process provides a modernised animal-friendly environment for the acceptance and delivery of domestic pets.

In accordance with International standards, puppies and kittens under 8 weeks are prohibited for transportation domestically in South Africa, no animals under 10 weeks on regional flights. This is the reason why you was informed about the necessary requirement. This is not to inconvenience you but for the safe transportation of your puppy.

Regards.

David
