Pathetic Customer service on BA South African Flights
To whom it may concern, British Airways Last weekend, myself, my fiancé and our daughter ( 1 year 11 months old) travelled with British Airways from Johannesburg to Durban. Unfortunately the flights was delayed and we were asked to move boarding gates twice. We did not complain about this and obediently went with the new plans. When we finally got onto the flight the food and beverages were served, we all served except for my daughter. When asked if we may please also have a sandwich for her (seeing as it was announced that 16 people did not make the flight and we paid for her to be there) we were refused. This was the response to my fiancé : "They (not she or the toddler) may not have any food". When asked why her reply was "she is not 2 years old and she must drink breast milk". She refused to give my daughter any food or water even with the fact that 16 people did not show and there was enough to supply her with one. So let me ask the following: 1) British Airways, do you supply breast milk on your flights for 2 year old toddlers? according to your hostess that is all she is allowed? 2) British Airways, are you also child dietitians? And can you truly deny a HUMAN BEING food based on her age? 3) I paid an extra fee for my daughter to fly (I think 20% of my ticket)? 4) Do you have a policy that you will not give obese people food based on they weight? Or how about the guy sitting two rows infront who is already on his third beer? Any policy on this? If not why deny someone a glass of water? As a parent it was heart breaking to see my child ask for some food and something to drink and then to be told NO and not understand why everyone one the flight is having something to eat except for her. As a customer I am disgusted at the way you treated my daughter. She may only be 1 year and 11 months old, but that does not exclude her from receiving what I consider a human right. Offering a hungry child a piece of bread and a glass of water would not have ****ed you. So let me give you a quick customer service lesson, sacrificing a R10 piece of bread would have satisfied a customer, leaving the customer happy. NOT giving the piece of bread ends up in you loosing not only that customers future flight profits, but potentially all that of the customers family and friends. I am sure that you will ignore this, as I have learned that British Airways only cares about their profit and not their customers. Sincerely From a very UNHAPPY customer.
