I am so angry and annoyed by the poor service from British Airways. I booked a flight for my 2 daughters to return from Harare as unaccompanied minors on the 29th Dec. On Friday 27th I called the BA call centre to find out if my kid's flight was in order and if anything else was required. I was told the booking was in order and all my sister needed to do is to produce her ID when checking in the kids and then from the SA side, I needed to produce my ID when collecting my kids. To my surprise and utter disgust, I received a call from my sister saying she was told she cannot check in the children because there was no affidavit. This was the 1st time I was hearing that I was meant to write an affidavit stating that we (my husband and I), we authorising BA to travel with our kids. We had just ordered our breakfast, but none the less, we left everything and raced out of the restaurant to look for the nearest police station. We were unhappy about this but decided we would comply so that the kids could travel. We wrote the affidavits and then sent these through to my sister. After all this stress and running around we thought things were now sorted, but alas, the BA had something new to say. We told the kids couldn't be checked in as we did not state on the affidavits who is picking them up. Despite having stated that I will be picking them up when we booked the flight and my sister having completed a form at the Harare check-in desk stating the same, the agent still declined. She stated that it still has to be on the affidavit. What is the point of having a system if you can't rely on it. To add onto that, you make people complete manual forms then still ask for the same information on the affidavit. My daughter was crying but no one cared. The poor kids were turned away because of BA employees being ***********. They rebooked a flight for 2 days later but guess what, we have to topup for the new tickets. It is not enough that BA has inconvenienced my family now we even pay them for it.
