Downgrade to Economy // Passing the Buck
In summary, I offered British Airways two opportunities to contact me regarding my complaint but they kept passing the buck.

I booked a business class ticket - Jhb to PE, for 29 January 2016 (Ref YS52HX, Flight BA 6237). I paid partly in Avios, partly via credit card. I checked in online and selected seat 1F.

At bag drop, the attendant asked whether I had selected a downgrade as I was now flying economy. Turns out the whole flight was now economy, but my seat was still 1F (after some disagreement. She said that we would still have priority boarding and the business class meals. Unfortunately there was no priority boarding and another passenger had the same seat as me (1F). This resulted in me having to wait at the front of the plane and my hand luggage was in overhead luggage at the back (I eventually sat in 1D). I had to wait for the entire plane to disembark before I could get my hand luggage. In addition, our meals were standard economy meals.

In short, economy treatment for business class price (Avios plus cash). I wrote to BA on two occasions but were told that they forwarded my email to Comair. To date, I have unfortunately not heard from Comair again.
Thank you for your post. I am terribly sorry for the inconvenience caused to you whilst using our services.
Your seat on flight BA6237/29Jan'16 was downgraded to traveller class due to an aircraft change. The aircraft used for this flight was a full Economy class aircraft. In order to ensure a smooth operation and minimise the possibility of disruption, a decision was made to operate this aircraft on the British Airways/Comair schedules. This is due to British Airways aircraft being in for maintenance.
I will be in touch with you via your personal email.
Thank you for allowing me this opportunity to explain.
Yours Sincerely,
Nazley -CR
