Discriminatory and prejudicial Service to Back row flight passengers
I have been on two BA Comair flights this year where the flight agent at check in has given me a back row seat despite asking for a front or middle row seat which was still available at the same price. On both occasions different race colleagues that have come after me in the queue have surprisingly been allocated those front or middle row available seats by the same attendants. As if that is not enough on both occasions food options are only provided to those sitting in the front and middle rows and as the attendants get to the final rows they rudely state that there is no option for food choices and it is not their fault because the airline only provides limited choices only to first option. This treatment is especially bad as the people sitting in the front and middle rows in economy have paid the same fair and the back rows are prejudiced at the option of attendants who use their discretion and presumably racial preferences in allocation of seats . As much as the food cost is negligible to the fair it is discriminatory to deprive back rows of same options availed to other travelers who have paid the same fair. my recent experience was on BA6262 yesterday 21st July . This same prejudicial food option selection experience happened and a Miss Caroline Jacobs rudely responded saying that food options are limited and we are forced to eat vegetarian meals and that is not their problem but a problem of the Airlines who provide such limited options and unfortunately when you sit at the back you have no choice to select. From an option of Lamb curry , chicken curry and vegetarian all back row seats were given vegetarian with no choice . We elected to go without a meal. This is the second time this has happened this year and one wonders why an airline would continuously prejudice its passengers especially without allowing passengers to elect available seats at the check in counters where attendants make personal calls . I believe the treatment needs to be urgently addressed and BA should do its food preference research better as it is clear there are very few vegetarians and such meals are always left unchosen and relegated to people on the final rows without choice . This is unacceptable and unfair treatment should be stopped and unwanted food choices should not be to back rowers as if they have paid less on flights .
