Delay on top of a delay
I attended a meeting in JHB yesterday, ofwhich after I had to fly back to Durban to attend to other urgent matters.. Surprisingly, my flight (BA6229) which was scheduled to depart from OR Tambo to Durban at 16:45 got delayed - By 2hrs 25 minutes !!
I had to incurr expenditure costs ( restaurants ) which I obviously didn't budget for, to keep the time going and to feed the stomach that's starting to be hungry.
Another surprise hit me at 6:30 when I went to the gate to get ready for the 19:10 delayed flight !! Flight got DELAYED BY A FURTHER 20MINUTES !! What an inconvenience..
The only thing that's most annoying is that they started announcing at 18:45 that the flight has been delayed and further delayed .. No supervisor was at the gate to attend to our queries - coz they don't care !!

In summary - flight that was supposed to leave at 16:45 actualy left at 19:40, close to 3hours delay ??!!??.

It was my first time on a plane, and British Airways made my experience a horrible one ! Even my lift which was waiting for me had to wait hours !

Mmmm ! British !!!!
Thanks for your post. I am sorry for the inconvenience caused due to our flight delay. We try hard to keep to our published schedule as we understand the impact it has on our customers. Any delays to our schedule due to factors within our control are only imposed when necessary as it has a business impact on us as well.
Flight BA6229/29Oct'15 was delayed due to rotational reasons and technical defects which occur on departure. Unfortunately these defects can only be picked up on departure. It will always be a huge challenge for all airline operators as we operate in extremely variable conditions and operate within a safety envelope that ensures there is no risk at any time to customers and staff. The unfortunate knock-on effects that are created when a flight is delayed/cancelled causes rolling delays as we and the Airports make every effort to catch up on all our schedules. As we aren't the only airline effected, it's not just our rotational impact but also the impact of the airports trying to re-accommodate all aircrafts on schedules for take-off and landing.
Yours Sincerely,
Nazley - CR
