****************!

In December 2016 I had booked a flight from Cape Town to Johannesburg but, due to unforseen circumstances, was unable to make the trip. I contacted British Airways and "banked" the ticket, to be used at some point in the following 6 months. This week I contacted British Airways again to try and re-book my flight before it expires. I was given a quote which, as I expected, included a re-booking fee and the "difference" between the price of the original ticket and the new one. I dealt with a very nice lady over the phone, and my complaint is in no way a reflection of the service that she provided, but rather of the utterly ridiculous cost of re-booking a ticket for which I have already paid. I was thoroughly aware that I would have to pay in a little and was expecting a quote of a few hundred Rand. The amount that I was quoted however was R1054.00, nearly R300.00 MORE than I would spend if I bought a brand new ticket, which makes absolutely no sense to me. Why on earth would anyone choose to spend an additional R1054.00, having already spent a similar amount previously on the original ticket, when much cheaper tickets are available? Am I to write this ticket off? I have queried this with British Airways and as yet received no response.
