Change in flight

We were booked on a flight from Durban to Johannesburg on British Airways Sunday 17 August 15:00. Upon baggage drop off we were told there is a delay and the flight will be leaving to PE first and upon its return we will than get on to the flight when asked what time that was they mentioned it's indefinite.with an alarming queue and a lot of unhappy people we were asked to make arrangements to get picked up from Lanseria airport of not they will get us onto a Kulula flight. They managed to do this however all 5 of us were split up and seated scattered. We had people who have a fear of flights and the fact that we were split was absolutely disturbing. When checking in the day before BA requests email addresses and a phone number to NOTIFY us of any changes. Non of that happend. We are utterly disappointed at the level of service we received not to mention we waited almost an hour at baggage drop off and due to the fact that check in closed (not our fault)some luggage could not be checked in and we had to carry it. Utterly disappointed!

Hello Thirushka,

Thanks for sharing your recent experience with us. I do apologise for the inconvenience caused due to the delay of your flight.

Various reasons can affect a flights scheduled time of departure; some are within our control while others may not be. The manner in which the delay is handled is what sets each airline apart and I do apologise that we did not meet your expectations in this regard.

If you do not pre-purchase a seat, you can follow the normal check-in process whereby you can check-in online, 24hrs before your flight and select your seat according to availability or you can use the facilities at the airport. In cases of aircraft/ flight changes and pre-selected seats could not be provided, customers are seated based on availability.

Customers are allowed 1 item to be checked in and the weight not exceeding 20kgs and hand luggage not exceeding 7kgs.

Your feedback has been sent to our management team to address the communication failure during the disruption to monitor this issue going forward.

We appreciate your feedback as we are always on the look-out for ways of improving our service to our passengers.

Kind regards,
Thuli
