Card ***** after using britishairways.com

I purchased a local British Airways return flight from Or Thambo, Johannesburg to Cape Town International and back, using the British Airways website britishairways.com for R1724.68. I recieved confirmation and the process was simple and easy. Two days later a deduction for Avios P point.com GBR went of the same account for R6774.12! I reported the ********** transaction to my bank and as a result my card had to be blocked.

I've tried calling every nr I could find to determine what this transaction was for but nobody could give my any information other than Avios has been discontinued.

The British Airways website is obviously not a safe place to do business.
