airlines do not pay for luggage damages
luggage was received at port elizabeth airport affter trip from durban with the handle torn out.<br> airline states that they do not pay for any damage to items/parts protruding from luggage<br> this is included in their terms of carriage (??pages), that each passenger should read before embarking!<br> it appears that this way they do not pay for any damaged luggage !<br> erika smith

We were very disappointed to hear about the problems you encountered with your baggage on your recent flight with us. In terms of Comair's General Conditions of Carriage for Passengers and Baggage, we do not accept liability for the loss, delay or damage to baggage . We also do not accept liability for the loss of, or damage to fragile or perishable articles, electronic equipment, mobile phones, money, jewelry, negotiable papers, securities or valuables, passports or other identification documents or samples which are included in the passengers checked or unchecked baggage. This is whether with or without the knowledge of the airline. We recommend that you settle this claim with your personal property insurers.
We do value you as our customer and whilst we are sorry we failed to meet your expectations on this occasion, we do assure you of our continued attention and co-operation.
