24 hour refund policy

I booked a ticket with British Airways and within 24 hours needed to cancel my ticket.

As British Airways refund policy states: "If you made your booking with British Airways and you notice a mistake after you have paid for your ticket(s), you can cancel your flight booking and claim a full refund without penalty, up to 24 hours from when you made the original booking. "

I did call and cancel my ticket within the 24hours and was advised that it was a non-refundable ticket. When I asked and quoted British Airways' refund policy, shockingly I was when I purchased the ticket and there after they placed me on hold to find out more info..

I was advised that I could only claim back the taxes, again this is not stated in the refund policy.

Please provide me with a full refund as your policy states
