The Worst service ever at Boxer Welkom

I went to Boxer Welkom on Sunday 29/10/2023. At the butchery a guy by name of Patrick Hlathi assisted. I requested club steak from Patrick and he asked me "what is club steak mme". I took the sticker of the special that they are running of the steak turned it to him and said this is club steak. He said no we do not sell that. I said to him you know this is not the first time that I come to Boxer requesting steak and the employees does not know what steak is, can you please get someone else to assist me? Then Patrick called Tebello Molefe. She approached me and said "what do you want"? Than I responded "Good morning to you too". Then she turned to Patrick and said "deal with your customer I am not in the mood for these people". Tebello then continued to gossip about me to the next clients she was busy assisting. I requested pork chops also from Patrick. He then proceeded with the transaction of the pork chops that he took WITH HIS BARE HANDS out of the white bucket that was standing on the floor. I then asked Patrick who is he going to give that meat that he touched with his bare hands. I then said to him I requested a manager 10 minutes ago, or someone who can help me with steak. He then went to go and call Simphiwe Moremi. On Simphiwe's arrival, he asked me what happened and how can he assist me. While I was busy explaining to Sinphiwe about why I am unhappy. Tebello interjected and started to scream at me. At this point the argument got so heated that I thought a fight was going to break out. Simphiwe kept on telling Tebello to keep quiet and let him handle the situation she still screamed and pointed at me. Tebello went as far as inciting violence on me, because she is now telling other clients what happened trying to look for support from clients. A manager was called and Tebello left with the manager. When she returned she said something in Sesotho to me in passing and I proceeded to the fridge where the chickens was. There was two managers present at this incident. Not one came to me to ask if I am OK or to just apologise. This is not the first or the second time I am logging a complaint against the Boxer Welkom butchery. It now keeps getting worse because I have to fear for my life now. While Tebello was screaming at me I was on the phone with the Regional Manager, Dirk. And I said to him he must please listen to the way that his staff members are treating Boxer clients. I feel violated because this happened in full view of other clients. What is Boxer doing about their branch in Welkom? Why should we be scared to shop there beacuse they employ "rude people" like Tebello Molefe. Why was there no proper training provided to people like Patrick Hlathi? Let me thank Simphiwe for handling the situation calmly and got me my request. If it wasn't for his intervention I think Tebello would have attacked me. My unhappiness further more is that No Regional or Branch manager called me with regards to the incident. I called the Branch manager to ask him for the names of the people involved in this incident this morning.

 Good Morning

On Sunday after receiving call from Dirk regarding the customer complain, i immediately called butchery manager and assistant manager to attend to the customer, the butchery manager was already in the department. I them called the customer who explained to me what happened and i apologized and she confirmed that the butchery manager was busy assisting her and another manager left with Tebello(the employee who was rude). I again apologized and inform her i will investigate the matter on monday when i get back to work and will call  her in the afternoon  with feedback and steps we are going to take to avoid the incident to happen again. On Monday around 8:30 i received a call from the customer requesting the names which i did give her, again i apologized and informed her i will receive information from assistant manager who is coming to work at 9 and will hold meetings with staff in the butchery as i was busy watching the incident on footage, and she requested me to check also the time when she was leaving Tebello came back to the department said something in sesotho which i agree to check it as it will form  part of the investigation.

I held a meeting with the staff members  who was working in the department on Sunday to investigate the matter and asked then what happened, also checked footage of the incident.

I is true the customer requested the Club Steak to Patrick also the staff confirmed he did not know club steak, he did touch the meat with bare hands when he was showing the customer the T-bone which was just being cut Patrick was fully aware that he should not touch the meat by hand as there were cloves and plastics in the department and acknowledged the mistake,  this was discussed with staff. Patrick immediately went to receiving to call the butchery manager and Simpiwe which they both came and assisted the customer.

Tebello also confirmed that when she saw that customer was shouting Patric regarding not knowing club steak and touching the meat with bare hands, she went to the counter to assist the collegue as she could see the customer is angry and she asked the customer" how  can she help the customer" the customer continued to speak to Patric and she said good afternoon to you  too. As she realized that the customer is angry she advised Patrick to go and call manager as she did want the customer to get more angry. When Simphiwe came to handle the matter Tebello tried to explain what the customer was looking for while customer was talking and that made the customer angry which Simphiwe cautioned Tebello  to assist other customers as he was already assisting, this was discussed with staff. There was other customers in the department, and one of the customer asked Tebello why she is assisting them crying or eyes full of tears and she explained to the other customer,  this was discussed as it was not suppose to happen.

Yesterday afternoon after speaking to staff i did call the customer again to apologize and what steps will be taken by us as the store to prevent this from happening again and she was happy that something will be done to avoid repeat of the incident. Tebello the employee also requested me to ask the customer if she can call her to apologist personally which the customer accepted and i called the customer again and the employee did speak to the customer and the customer forgave her and the customer was happy.
