Ongoing Cash Shortages and Pricing Discrepancies at Pungashe Boxer Superstores

I am writing to raise serious concerns regarding the service at Pungashe Boxer Superstores in KwaZulu-Natal.

This store serves as the primary shopping and cash withdrawal point for many members of our community. Unfortunately, customers regularly experience difficulties accessing their own money. The ATM is frequently out of cash, and even when customers are making purchases, the tills often refuse cashback requests because there is allegedly no cash available.

As a result, community members are forced to stand in long queues outside for extended periods simply to withdraw small amounts such as R100 or R200. This has become an ongoing problem over several months and is particularly difficult for elderly pensioners.

Most concerning is that pensioners were reportedly unable to access their pension money on pension payout days because there was no cash available. Elderly people are being forced to wait for hours, often in uncomfortable conditions, simply to access funds they depend on for food, transport, and basic necessities.

Another issue is the inconsistency between shelf prices and the prices charged at the tills. Customers must constantly verify their receipts because items are sometimes charged at a higher price than what is displayed on the shelf. This creates frustration and inconvenience, especially for those on limited budgets who carefully plan their purchases.

While I acknowledge that product quality and stock management appear to have improved compared to previous years, these ongoing cash availability problems and pricing discrepancies continue to negatively affect the community.

I am requesting that Boxer Superstores investigate these issues urgently and provide a lasting solution. A store that serves as a critical resource for an entire community should ensure reliable access to cash withdrawals and accurate pricing at all times.

We are loyal customers who continue to support this business, and we would appreciate the same level of commitment in return.

Thank you.

Thank you for getting in touch with us regarding this matter. We have escalated to management to investigate further. This type of service is not at the level that Boxer prides ourselves on and we will be sure to action this accordingly. Management will be in touch to discuss further and resolve.
