Formal complaint against supervisor for repeated disrespectful conduct

Dear Boxer Head Office / Store Management,

I am writing to formally report and escalate an extremely unpleasant and unacceptable experience I had at your Boxer Superstores branch located on West Street, next to KFC. The incident occurred on 27 April 2026 and specifically involves a supervisor named Spha.

This is not my first negative encounter with him. I previously experienced a similar issue last year when attempting to request cash back, and unfortunately, nothing seems to have changed. His behaviour remains consistently rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional.

During my most recent visit, I simply asked why a store of your size did not have sufficient cash available for a cash back request. Instead of responding respectfully, Spha became condescending and dismissive in his tone. To make matters worse, he walked away while I was still speaking to him. I found this behaviour incredibly disrespectful and unacceptable, especially from someone in a supervisory role.

At that point, I insisted on speaking to someone senior, as I was not prepared to tolerate such treatment. The store manager, Ryan, then assisted me. I must commend him for his professionalism—he handled the situation appropriately, apologised, and ensured that I was assisted. However, it is deeply concerning that for a simple cash back request of just R360, the situation had to escalate to the store manager due to a supervisor’s poor attitude and unwillingness to assist.

Spha’s conduct reflects very poorly on your brand. Someone with such a disregard for customers should not be placed in a frontline position in a business of your calibre. His repeated behaviour shows a pattern, not a once-off incident, and it is for this reason that I am formally reporting this matter.

Please note that if this matter is not addressed with the seriousness and urgency it deserves, I will have no hesitation in escalating it further to consumer protection bodies and publicly sharing my experience on social media platforms. Customers should not have to endure such treatment, nor fight for basic respect.

I expect a formal response outlining the steps that will be taken to address this issue. Please note that I prefer to be contacted via email regarding this matter.

Sincerely, Phumelele Mtheku *** ***
