Boxer isiphingo filled this pensioner
I am writing to express my deep concern and disappointment regarding the treatment of a 75-year-old pensioner at Boxer Isiphingo.
The elderly woman visited the store to withdraw her pension—money that is essential for her survival and that of her family. Instead of receiving proper assistance, the teller dismissed her without any meaningful engagement, simply stating that there were no funds in her account. No effort was made to investigate further, verify details, or treat her with the dignity and care she deserved.
Distressed and confused, the pensioner took it upon herself to obtain a printed bank statement. The statement clearly showed that the funds had already been withdrawn at the same store. When she returned with this proof, she was again met with a lack of assistance and no willingness from the teller to resolve the issue or escalate it appropriately.
It has now been several days since this incident, and she still has not received any assistance or resolution. This ongoing lack of action is unacceptable and further exacerbates the distress and hardship she is experiencing.
This kind of service is not only unacceptable—it is deeply concerning. Pensioners rely on this money for basic survival. When they are treated with such disregard, it puts their well-being at serious risk. Failing to properly assist a vulnerable elderly customer in a financial matter of this importance shows a severe lack of accountability, empathy, and professionalism.
I strongly urge management to investigate this incident thoroughly, ensure that staff are properly trained to handle such situations, and implement measures to prevent this from happening again. No elderly person should have to go through such distress, especially when accessing their own funds.
This matter deserves urgent attention.
