Very poor service

I am extremely disappointed with my experience at the Pretoria Camups. I accompanied my nephew to write an exam, and the overall experience raised serious concerns about the institution’s professionalism, infrastructure, and transparency. Firstly, the campus is located within a shopping complex and is extremely difficult to find. When contacting the institution telephonically for directions, staff members were unable to assist adequately. Repeated phone calls and emails requesting to speak to the campus manager or senior personnel went unanswered. Calls were transferred without response, and emails received no feedback, reflecting a clear lack of accountability and customer service. When assistance was eventually provided, we were informed that textbooks were “included.” However, it later became clear that these are online-only textbooks, with no reduction in tuition costs, and in fact, costs appear to have increased. This is misleading and was not transparently communicated upfront. More concerning is that the institution advertises qualifications that are not yet accredited, which raises serious questions about compliance and ethical marketing practices. The physical condition of the campus is unacceptable for a learning institution. The kitchen is located between bathrooms, which is unhygienic and disturbing. During consultation, there was a large hole in the ceiling, visible water damage on the walls and floors, and a strong damp smell embedded in the carpets. These conditions are unsafe and unsuitable for students. Additionally, the campus is located next to a liquor store, which further detracts from the academic environment. When enquiring about the 2026 prospectus, we were given outdated 2025 material. I returned again in January, only to find that nothing had changed poor infrastructure, lack of maintenance, and the same operational issues remained unresolved. While I must acknowledge that I received excellent service at the Centurion campus, which was well-maintained and professionally managed particularly regarding clarification on accreditation issues this does not outweigh the overall concerns. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this institution, as there are persistent issues that reflect poorly on the brand as a whole. There is simply something fundamentally off about the institution’s operations, transparency, and standards.

 Hi Paul,

Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed account of your experience. We take feedback of this nature seriously, as it highlights areas that require closer review and decisive action.

Boston City Campus operates across multiple Support Centres, each managed individually but held to the same institutional standards. Your comments regarding the Pretoria Support Centre’s accessibility, responsiveness, infrastructure, and communication have been noted and have been escalated to senior management for assessment and follow-up.

To clarify, Boston is transparent about the accreditation status of its qualifications, and students are advised accordingly before registration. Our Textbooks+ digital model forms part of our approved academic delivery framework and is communicated as such during the registration process. That said, we recognise the importance of clear, upfront communication so that prospective students and families can make fully informed decisions.

We appreciate your recognition of the service received at our Centurion Support Centre, which reflects the standard of student support and professionalism we strive to maintain across all campuses.

Our Lynwood Support Centre Manager has been attempting to reach out to engage with you directly regarding the concerns raised. We would welcome the opportunity to engage further and review the matter in detail. You are encouraged to contact our Head Office via email at *** or on ***, so the matter can be handled through the appropriate governance channels.

Regards,
Boston City Campus Team
