Speaking up/out to be a catalyst for change

Going to a “private” institution you would ultimately expect a certain standard of service. There were numerous emails going back and forth with Boston. Trying to get my PRL sorted. They sent me 4 different documents all contradicting the previous decision on the review or subjects being omitted.

Then issued with incorrect text books + textbooks for certain modules not being given to you until a month or 2 later! Invigilator app not being able to scan your answer script and having unending technical issues.

Every semester there was an issue with their invigilator app. Matthew the deputy registrar responses are always text book responses, without considering or applying logic. Which results in re-writes Mind you there Is a student who paid 18K for re-writes. Wrote an exam - on the cover sheet of the exam it states: no answers in pencil will be marked. I typed my answers and upload it. My result ZERO - exam irregularity.

Forced to write the supp exam. A carbon copy of the initial exam! Only 2 questions differ. After reviewing my answer scripts for both it’s as clear as day the same person wrote it due to the consistency. On the student portal the Monday. My result is released 65% for the auditing exam.

A few moments later… an email, exam irregularity detected. I was apparently out of the invigilator app for 25mins and COULD/MAY have accessed unauthorised material = My result removed from the student portal Really? For an exam I’ve literally already written before! When I have 2 cellphones and my laptop where If I wanted to, could have accessed material on either. Make it make sense! After pleading with them to mark my initial script because I was well pre-pared for the exam. Nope! I had to re-write. Why on earth would any reasonable or idiot without ethics go and cheat on an exam they’ve already written. When they pleaded for their script to be marked! And they get the opportunity to do the exact same exam AGAIN! Why on such a perfect opportunity would a student exit an app on the exact same phone! And not use any of the 2 devices.

There has been NUMEROUS complaints about this app. It’s really suspicious that students are suspected to be out of the app when there’s no actual proof of evidence that they have in fact “minimised” or “left the app” besides for a invigilator app stating you exited at x time and signed back in at x time. It’s your word against a problematic application.

I urge students to think very carefully and conduct thorough research before registering with a university ESPECIALLY THIS ONE. It is extremely demotivating while preparing for an exam and writing an exam you need to be worried about an inefficient application. This institution really needs to relook at this app in its entirety, it’s not an effective tool. you can’t require students to use an application and play technical support at the same time while conducting an exam.

I sincerely hope that this dissatisfaction leads to improvement at this institution.
