Misinformed about a course at Boston Arcadia Campus, Pretoria
I have enrolled my child for a National Senior Certificate at the Boston Arcadia Campus, Pretoria. The information I received was deceiving, they never told me that it is a self study. The students have about two hours to use the media room per day. The campus does not have library, what should happen after they are done at the media centre? Because there should be a library where they can study and write assignments. I feel they have been dishonest by not telling me from the beginning that it is a self study.

Boston City Campus & Business College adopted an ITC delivery system to deliver teaching and learning to its students.
Students participating in higher education studies do so in the distance mode, with teaching and learning hosted via an online system, academic support offered to student are done telephonically or via email. Our support centers offer the same modality in delivering the teaching and learning to non-higher education students, with the added value of onsite training advisors, to assist students with teaching and learning support. We have learned that students prefer our teaching and learning modality, over lecture based teaching in the contact mode, which allow them to review lectures or to do revision at their convenience. Learning schedules allow students with adequate time to engage with courseware and to access learning platforms. More compact schedules allow for more focused teaching practices.
After you raised a query with regards to the teaching and learning, the support centre contacted the student to enquire if there are any difficulties experienced and if Boston can be of assistance. The student is extremely happy with the modality and has not raised any concerns. The institution provides all of our students with the necessary courseware in order to study effectively towards completing a programme or qualification with the institution. All academic resources required are included in our tuition fees.
Boston City Campus & Business College is proud of our programme offerings and of our teaching and learning practices. We always continue to develop and improve on our programme offerings and teaching and learning delivery methods. We will gladly accept any suggestions to further improve our systems and practices.
