Outstanding service on a very tight schedule!

En route from Johannesburg to De Rust on Monday 15 January, I broke down just outside Bloemfontein due to an electrical fault on my Ford Bantam. The Ford dealer in Bloemfontein wasn't able to help, but referred me to the local Bosch Service centre (Electro Diesel/Ben Toy) in McKenzie Street.

The service I got from Werner and the rest of the technicians was the most pleasant surprise I've had in a very long time - and a welcome boost, considering that every other part of my day had gone wrong thus far! They promptly dropped what they were doing, and took no more than five minutes to isolate and solve a tricky electronic problem that would have taken most other motor workshops a day or more to diagnose. When it came to payment, they very kindly deferred.

Not only is this kind of service over and well beyond the 'call of duty', this calibre of auto technician is outstanding. The depth of knowledge, experience and good old-fashioned know-how these gents brought to bear to fix the problem was a privilege to watch. Thanks, guys - not just for fixing my bakkie, but for restoring my faith that there are still craftsmen who take pride in their work. :)
