Based on recent customer reviews, Bosch Service is drawing sustained criticism across its franchised branches, with customers in Gezina, Meyerton, Lenasia, Mokopane, Pietermaritzburg and Benoni reporting misdiagnoses, repeat faults, missing coolant, parts billed but not replaced and vehicles held for weeks. Communication is a recurring pain point, with owners chasing their own updates while head office escalations go unanswered, alongside disputed quotes and unauthorised extra charges. A smaller group praises individual branches such as Kyalami, Tokai, Menlyn and Stoneridge, where named staff deliver honest diagnostics, clear explanations and reliable follow through.

Charged for repairs not done!
Terrible experience! Took my car to the Bosch at *** towards the end of August 2026 for an oil and coolant leak. They are also affiliated with the same owners/staff of this Fourways branch. They said that I needed to replace a timing chain tensioner which was the source of the oil leak - they charged me over R3000 to replace this part. A week later I took my car to a BMW specialist, and he showed me that they just used silicone to seal the old tensioner and did not replace the part. The owner and his son, Dryston Govender have been dismissive in all communication and are refusing refunds but have not provided any proof that they have replaced the part. The staff at Bosch even put a random tensioner (for the wrong engine model) in my boot to fool me into thinking that they replaced the tensioner in my engine! The manager tells customers that the parts supp**** are Bosch OE parts, but they are supplying cheaper, non Bosch parts with drastic markups, around double the price and sometimes higher. I was overcharged for every piece of work that was done on my car and **** to about most things. They send multiple bills every few days for items that do not even need to be replaced. Rather take your car to a reputable dealership where you will not be overcharged and taken advantage of.

Poor mechanical work
Poor mechanical work Took in my car for service on the 21 August On the 1st September my car battery had a leak . Due to corrosion from battery acid, I have to replace the negative control unit. This is not Bosch fault. But how do you service a car , which includes changing air filters and miss that . I don't understand how a mechanic can miss that and the negative impact it can have on a vehicle.. This Very poor service, because I would trust that necessary things were checked even the visible ones to the naked eye

Unauthorised/incorrect steering rack replaced
FORMAL COMPLAINT – To: Bosch Service Management I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding the handling of my vehicle, which I brought to your service centre for what was initially intended to be a diagnostic inspection/check to establish whether there were any faults that required repair or replacement. Unfortunately, what should have been a straightforward inspection has turned into a serious and extremely frustrating situation. During the process, a steering rack was fitted to my vehicle, and I subsequently experienced further problems with the vehicle, leaving me without reliable transport for seven days and counting. My primary concern is that I did not take my vehicle to Bosch Service expecting unnecessary work to be carried out or for the vehicle to be left in a worse position than when I brought it in. I expected a professional assessment of the vehicle and, should any repairs or replacements have been identified, I expected these to be properly explained to me and authorised before proceeding. I therefore request the following: 1. A full written explanation of what was initially diagnosed on my vehicle and why the steering rack was replaced. 2. Confirmation of exactly what parts were fitted, including whether the steering rack was new, refurbished or used, and the manufacturer/part details. 3. A clear explanation of what caused the subsequent problems with my vehicle after the work was carried out. 4. Confirmation of what work has subsequently been performed to rectify the problem and why it has taken more than six days to resolve. 5. A definitive completion date and time, rather than another open-ended assurance that the vehicle will be ready before close of business. 6. An explanation of what Bosch Service intends to do to address the inconvenience and costs I have incurred as a result of being without my vehicle for seven days and counting. 7. A copy of the diagnostic report, quotation, job card, invoices and any relevant documentation relating to the work performed on my vehicle. I would like to emphasise that my complaint is not simply about the delay. My primary concern is that I brought my vehicle to Bosch Service to have it checked for faults, and I now find myself in a situation where the vehicle has been kept for more than six days and appears to have developed significant issues following work undertaken by your service centre. I expected Bosch Service to demonstrate professionalism, accountability and urgency in resolving the matter. Instead, I have experienced repeated promises that the vehicle would be ready by the end of the day, with no satisfactory resolution. I am therefore requesting that this matter be escalated to senior management and that I receive a formal written response addressing the above concerns. I trust Bosch Service will treat this complaint with the seriousness it deserves and provide an immediate and satisfactory resolution. Andile

Poor after sales service from Bosch
In early 2025 I refurbished and party furnished a home in the Cape for my elderly parents to move into. During 2024, we had, on recommendation, purchased a number of appliances for our own home from Claremont Appliances and received great service. Several of the appliances purchased in 2024 were Bosch. When I furnished the home for my parents, I decided to standardise on Bosch. Once again I purchased through Claremont Appliances. The purchase was not insignificant, and included: A freezer/fridge, a separate stand up freezer, a dishwasher, condenser drier, washing machine, vacuum cleaner, kettle, toaster, microwave, oven and hob. Everything came with a 3 year warranty. Within a year, there was a problem with the washing machine. The service was prompt, it was determined that it was, in fact, a plumbing problem, which I had sorted out. In the middle of May 2026, the oven, which had been a bit problematic, stopped working and I logged a service call. The technician came out, said he needed to order some parts from Germany. We waited. That repair attempt failed, they tried something else. Time went on. I started to complain. Through the intervention of the lady I dealt with for the sale, things finally started to move and the matter was escalated. Another technician came out. We were advised that it had been installed incorrectly and needed a ventilation panel. The installer (who had done the refurb) arranged this, but said that he doubted it was the problem. At the time of purchasing the oven, we were NOT given any particular installation instructions. The oven was removed for repair and return. We waited again for parts. I made more noise. I made the point that surely it was unacceptable to leave a home without an oven for so very long. And surely it was time to admit that the original oven was a 'lemon'. We are all aware, that even with good brands, occasionally an appliance is a 'lemon'. This is forgivable. Poor after sales service and dodging of doing the right thing is not acceptable. Eventually, after more than 3 months, they have accepted that the original oven cannot be repaired and replaced it. I am unimpressed. Do better Bosch.

Disappointed
Took my car for service and day after it was not starting, tried boosting the battery and putting another battery which didn't help. The car was then towed back to Bosch .On Tuesday the 10.08.26 called to check if they have found out what problem was told they are still charging the battery. Late on the day invoice was sent for a new battery told them will get it for myself however before that i told them I doubt that the battery is problem. The new battery didn't get the car to start they asked for a spare key which was sent didn't work again . They then told me they'll have to put the car on a diagnose machine they said they don't pick up anything they have to call the electrician from outside another invoice was sent . The report was sent to me late on the day that the fuse are blown the car is starting but can't get it back as yet they need to take it to the electrician workshop to find the cause of which I am not happy with this whole thing I feel like it was their fault now had to pay the electrician should know the cause hence he's dealing with cars everyday

URGENT COMPLAINT – NEGLIGENCE CAUSED OVERHEATING VEHICLE
Subject: I am extremely frustrated and angry with the unacceptable service I received from Bosch Car Service Pretoria Gezina. After your workshop worked on my vehicle, you failed to put coolant back into the system. I am now stuck on the R80 to Mabopane with an overheating car because the coolant reservoir is completely empty. This is pure negligence and could have caused serious damage to my engine. I called your branch immediately, and the response I received was completely dismissive. No urgency, no accountability, and no effort to assist me while I am stranded on the side of the road. This is not how customers should be treated. Because of your careless mistake, my vehicle is now at risk. If my engine is damaged as a result of overheating, I will hold Bosch Car Service fully responsible for all repair or replacement costs. I will not accept any excuses. Your service has not only inconvenienced me but has put me in a dangerous situation. This is unacceptable and unprofessional. I expect: Immediate assistance A full explanation of how this happened Assurance that any damage caused will be covered by your workshop If this matter is not resolved urgently, I will escalate it further. This is completely unacceptable.
