*********** & Dangerous car workshop
Bosch Car Service Auto Service & Diagnostics 5B Hou Moed Ave, Sunnydale, Cape Town
First Hand experience, Took my vehicle to them for a service , seemed ok, however they failed to notify me about faded tires, metal showing, they claimed that my Rear main seal was leaking oil, (still debatable if that was true).
I returned to have them fix it to the tune of roughly R8000, upon receiving the vehicle i noticed a lack of boost & a check engine light popping up on the dash, apart from that a fully functioning tank Gage was all of a sudden broken and also showing an error!
They claimed they could fix it, charged me a further R3000 roughly to remove the intake manifold & to establish that the flaps where not opening accurately, With the help of another workshop we managed to establish that all this was linked to a cooling system pipe they ripped of when replacing the Rear Main seal (while dropping the gear box out), they informed me of that and wanted me to pay for it yet i refused as it was negligence on their part.
I had to go to a mechanic who actually knows what he is doing for the boost / check engine light to be resolved, for roughly the same amount i payed for Bosch to resolve non of the things they broke, *fuel gage & boost problem/ check engine light* important to note that neither of these problems existed before i gave them my car.
Once that was fixed i started noticing increase oil consumption, upon checking it was clear that the car was leaking a substantial amount of oil from the Rear main seal that they supposedly fixed, i went to another workshop to establish what was wrong & we found a Gear box housing bolt lying around in the engine bay in one of the unused slots for the housing.
Upon those findings i returned to Bosch ( the owner Mark) was hostile toward me, & had no clue as to what had initially transpired with my car, he has no Car background, neither is he passionate about cars, he merely bought the business 4 years ago **red flag** His workshop staff seem to be running the shop & operating with impunity, possibly using customer cars for parts, i was advised that this could have been the case with my car given the sudden errors that popped up!
I had to take my vehicle to the workshop that resolved the boost problem, they informed me that the Rear Main seal used by Bosch was a cheap aftermarket part which basically didn't hold up, further more i was informed that there where bolts missing on the flex plate in the gear box setup.
In my eyes and experience without a doubt the worst Car service/ workshop that i have ever had the displeasure of having to deal with, and there is no way in anyone would ever see any money back from these characters.
I have heard from & met multiple people that have experienced very similar scenarios with this shop & the owner as well as staff, yet they are still able to operate, i have tried to relay this to Bosch South Africa and will continue to do so , this shop should be closed & some of their mechanics barred from working within this industry as even the most basic skill or even logical problem solving by deduction method completely eludes them.
If i would have to rate this shop, owner and his staff in two words
*********** & Dangerous
