Do not use Bosch Fourways (Dryson Auto)

Nature of Complaint: not carrying out work paid for upfront

I called Bosch Fourways in Late September and asked them if they could assess a car I was looking at buying.

On arrival on the day of assessment, I spoke with the assessor Rodney at the car, I asked if he needed to see the service history and I also mentioned that I had 3 concerns: 1. There was a pipe in the engine with a hole in it, 2. The car was over heating and 3. The brakes felt worn.

I was honest and said I know nothing about cars and if he tells me the damages are too big, I will not buy the car.

I asked them to assess the vehicle as they do at dekra and give me a list of everything the car needed repairs on to be roadworthy.

They assessed the car and then were not "able" to issue a report so scribbled out a list of things on a piece of paper.

I then went home to google the stuff and thought my car had been assessed and that once i get these things fixed it will be fine.

I was quoted 15k and I took out a loan to pay for the repairs and to buy the car. At this point, the car is still not in my name. The previous oweners were happy for me to carry out all work as I had paid them for the car.

So I paid upfront and took the car in for 2 days worth of work from the Thursday to the Friday.

On the Friday at about 12 I called to make sure the car would be ready and the receptionist said they found more issues for 900 to repair. I told her to not touch anything as I need to see the quote...

at 4h30 I went to collect the car and was in a hurry to get back to work. I then was about to drive off and noticed the rims were not replaced and the manager confirmed it was not the rims they replaced, it was the hubs and they are inside the wheel. Thinking nothing of it, I drove off.

The next day I went to Tiger wheel to do the 9 point check for insurance and the man proceeded to tell me that I needed new wipers (part of what Boch was supposed to have replaced) on closer inspection, they just washed the car and did not change it.

I then emailed and got an apology saying they will dispatch a tech to sort it out.

A couple of hours later, They dispatched a DRIVER who told me "I do not know how to do this", so we googled it. (Upside, I now can fit wipers!).

The next day I went to the shop and the car started overheating!!! When I escalated it to bosch they invalidated everything I had said and mentioned because I signed the invoice its not their fault. They also invalidated that I even spoke with Rodney and said "you didn't mention any of this to the receptionist". They sent a long winded email stating how the work I paid for was carried out.

FIFTEEN THOUSAN RAND of work to still be driving a broken car!

BUT when I asked to see the old parts, they stopped replying. When I asked them why the hole in the pipe is still there, I go no feedback. They then said I had not mentioned any of these issues to them, but I had, I spoke to Rodney when he assessed the car.

These are the issues I could SEE and they were not fixed, so I started asking them, how do I know you did what I cant see... no reply...

Anyway. Fast forward to this past Friday 16th October 2021. I took the car to be roadworthiness and the guy who assessed the car said no work had been carried out (aside from the wipers). He identified an oil leak on the Tappet gasket (only reason why I know the part name is because its on the bosch invoice). He said the oil smelled old. He let me stand under the car with him and proceeded to point out things that were NOT done on the car. That Bosch should have seen and fixed and would have come across if they had actually worked on the car!

Then on the way home, the car overheated and I had to be towed.

I told Bosch that they are negligent as none of their qualified people picked this up. and if they are denying that I asked for it to be checked then they are implying they messed it up??

the road side assist tech then checked the car and said if the engine had been worked on, it would have been cleaned and it is filthy.

I escalated to Bosch head office and have been ignored, I have no reference number, just an automated reply.

I have also made contact with the ombud and the previous owner of the car is willing to try help draw up a mandate. but why must I fight like this... they have NO INTEGRITY all I want is a refund.

They **** about the work they did.

They took advantage of me being a woman alone (then came up with some garbage about being female owned and they treat all customers the same...) then in that case, they took advantage of me paying upfront and signing the invoice because you TRUST a name like Bosch... then made me feel like im the dumb person and this is my fault.

Never again. I will never recommend bosch to anyone. Not in fourways or anywhere else!
