WORST SERVICE EVER @ BMW (JHB CITY AUTO - NEWTOWN)

I took my car (a BMW X1) to BMW Jhb City Auto in Newtown for a Service on Friday 16/02/2019.

They said it’s going to be R 5000 for that service and they will let me know when service is complete.

I left the car with them just before 8am, I called them at 16:30pm and I was told that they are still not done and someone was busy assembling the car. At around 17:20pm, their driver arrived at my workplace for pickup and when I got to the dealership, the consultant gave me an invoice for me to go pay. He walked with me to the cashiers and I paid/cleared the invoice.

The consultant said the car will be brought to the front, I waited for about 20 mins before I could get my car, eventually I went back to him to enquire about the whereabouts of the car and we were told that it was still in the washing bay - mind you it was past 17:30pm already, the staff was packing and some had already left. As we were walking to the washing bay, the guy who was washing the car came towards our direction with the car, however the driver's window was open and he said he couldn't close it.

I decided to inspect the car as I was puzzled why the window wasn't closing. Another consultant came to assist and he realized that the car indicators were also not working and to make matters worse, the closed windows were not opening. No one could give me answers. I then called the service manager who was getting ready to leave work, he came & gave me a lot of excuses, argued with me and said that everyone had already gone home and said during the service they don't check everything so he couldn't give me an explanation of what happened.

He further said it could be a module that could have packed-up as the driver was driving from the wash bay area & he can only check the car the next day, this is after I had asked him how they could give me a car that was not checked properly. Clearly no one checked the car and I now doubt they even did the service I paid for! They were quick to give me a checklist to sign for dents, scratches, etc. that were there before I left the car but there was no checklist when I collected the car.

My concerned is that when I left the car with them in the morning, everything was working fine! I decided to not to take the car until they sort everything out, I then asked for a lift back home and I was dropped off at home.

I got a call today the 16th February'19 from Wayne from BMW Jhb City Auto, informing me that he has checked the car and there is a part that needs to be replaced and I will have to pay around R7 000 for it - this is really pathetic and upsetting! It doesn't make sense to me, my windows and indicators were working perfectly when I left the car with them and then suddenly they're not working. Whoever messed up the car or stole that part must sort it out, pay for it and fix the car.

Had I known that I would get such terrible service, I would have taken the car elsewhere! I definitely wouldn’t recommend anyone to this BMW branch, even the service manager having the audacity of telling me that they don't check everything, so what do they check.

This is such an inconvenience, as i do not have another car to get around and going to work.

Can someone investigate this matter and give me feedback please.

Kind Regards Ms. Zwane **********
