Terrible experience with bmw.
I went down to cape town from Gauteng early June 25. While there I visited smg cape town to see Xavier Nienaber at bnw cape town. I have done business with him before and he is very good. Ended up buying a I5 60M demo model that was at bmw south africa. We did the financing through bmw finance and they then proceeded to transport the vehicle to cape town for pre delivery inspection after which they would send it back to vanderbijlpark where I stay. After numerous logistical challenges I asked him to just cancel the deal and I will look elsewhere for a vehicle. He convinced me to be patient and the car eventually arrived in vanderbijlpark 28/6.2025 at the hospital where I work. Upon driving it out of the premises I heard a terrible bumpy noise from the right rear suspension and phoned Xavier immediately. He said the car did pass the pre delivery inspection and suggested I take it to Vereeniging bmw. I then already said I don't want to pay 1.83 mil for a car and then get this. He again convinced me to have it checked out by bmw. I had it taken in the next day and they kept it there and didn't have a courtesy vehicle available. I phoned them a week later after hearing nothing from them just to hear that they were still looking for the fault. Another week later I phoned them again and they said it was the shock and that they ordered one. It arrived 10 days later but without the necessary nuts and bolts which took another week. During this time I told Xavier I want the deal cancelled and hr must find me another bmw different model. Ge said it could not be done but he will see what he can do with trading it in on a different car. So after being owner of a car and not having it for a month they now expected me to trade it in on another vehicle. I told this to Corne at bmw Vereeniging and he tried to get a price for the I5. To my disbelieve the said they can only offer me 1.35. Xavier came back with a offer of 1.65 on a ix60. I then decided to contact bmw south africa but what a total waste of time. First started with apparently going to escalate the case to cape town bmw to which I responded that I have already spoken to them and wanted to be escalated to someone in management with decision making ability or even Mr Rooden the cfo. I then received an email from a Mr T Lawrence that asked me to let him know when it will be convenient for me to discuss the matter with him. This was a werk ago and I did respond the same day and followed up two more times with no response to date. I honestly expected much more from bmw because they claim to look after their clients well. I have in my 40 years of motoring owned no less than 36 BMW's. In short I lost R180 000 on a vehicle that was faulty and not due to any mistake from my side and with me telling them to cancel the deal. To add insult to injury I then had to pay penalty interest of R44 000 for exiting the contract. Please bmw proof to me that you do care for your customers.
