Sovereign BMW refuses to accept responsibility for a part they fixed failing again
My mother owns an X5 3.0 diesel, fully paid. Last year the actuator stopped working and as a result the handbrake malfunctioned, we took the car to our usual service guys, G6 service center in Bloem, who by the way are an approved repairer. They however felt that because the part is under warranty, it would be best to take the vehicle to Sovereign BMW in Langenhoven Park, Bloemfontein. The vehicle was taken there and the part was replaced(allegedly) at BMW. In November, the same part failed and we returned the vehicle to BMW...
2 months later, no courtesy vehicle, we confronted BMW in Bloemfontein to seek a resolution because now my mother has no vehicle, I had loaned her mine which I now need, and after various excuses where BMW didn't want to take any responsibility, the matter was allegedly escalated to the regional manager.
The feedback we received was that it is BMW policy not to have a warranty claim on a claim, meaning that despite the fact that the very same part that THEY allegedly replaced has failed again, they refuse to fix or replace it again. They say it's our problem. To make matters worse, they flatly refused to offer a courtesy vehicle while we escalate the matter and try to find resolution. The service guy, to my complete shock, actually said that the vehicle is driveable and we can take it but we'd have to sign a disclaimer and absolve them of any responsibility should anything else happen😳😳😳
They claim that it's not their fault as G6 installed "after-market parts" when we replaced the brake pads and linings and that somehow had a hand in the actuator failing!!!
My displeasure is that we have been BMW clients since 1994 and at times even owned 3 at a time. Whike my father was alive such buffoonery wouldn't be allowed and he would always take them to task, which leads me to believe that BMW doesn't respect nor value an elderly, single black woman. To say that I am disgusted and furious would be an understatement. Now it means that we have to fork out money to take this matter to court, and in all that time, we are inconvenienced because I can't leave my elderly mother without a car, and I have to make some other arrangements for myself for transportation.
Now I see why the newer Asian brands a quickly gaining market share over BMW, the arrogance is bewildering and infuriating.
