Pathetic service from BMW South Africa

Good day I am writing today after a month long struggle with BMW South Africa I own a BMW E90 *** model I recently became aware of a recall on that specific engine between 2009 and SEP 2012. Apparently the Vanos bolts come loose. I went to the dealer to find out if my engine is effected because BMW fitted a new engine in my car in march 2012. I was told that the system does not show any recall on my car. I asked them to show me what engine number is on the system. They had not updated my engine number so system still thinks that I have the 2007 engine in my car. I spoke to the Technician he said the only way he can tell is to open the tappet cover and check which bolts are in. I need to cover the cost to do that, this makes no sense you have a recall on a vehicle now you not sure if this engine is effected and the customer must pay for you to check. They are adamant that the system will flag a recall cause it's is VIN specific. After a battle to make the service adviser understand that the vin can't flag my car for an issue if it does not know I have an engine replacement they decided to escalate the issue. They come back to me and say the car has no recalls according the the system so now I must explain to them again that the vin does not know the engine is changed Anyway I said it's fine you say my engine is not effected please tell me how you reached this conclusion and tell me the production year of the engine in my vehicle . 2 weeks have since passed no replies to email no telephone calls nothing. This is the level of service you get from a company like BMW. I have no issues if my engine does not have an issue just tell me when was my engine manufactured and they should know that information if they can state my car is not effected, but there reason for saying my car is not effected is that the system does not show a recall. I am waiting for a reply for 2 weeks after many calls still no reply. Today I call speak to another consultant gives me the same nonsense that the recall is vin related. it is absolutely ridiculous that you have to deal with such people that don't understand a vehicle is made of a chassis and and engine and if the engine is replaced the chassis will not be able to tell you there is a defective component on the engine if the two numbers are not married. The customer service is pathetic let alone their knowledge. I still can't get a date after a month as to when my engine was manufactured but they can tell me if is not part of the defective batch yet is was installed during the defective batch period. Absolutely sick of dealing with incompetence, How difficult is it to give a customer a logical explanation tell me or show me my engine is not from that defective period. Don't tell me the system says there is no recall. Hire people who are competent and can help customers not lie to them
