I was sold a written off vehicle through finance with BMW

I bought and financed a second hand Polo Vivo from a BMW dealership in 2022 and Monday 04 August 2025 I was advised by another dealership that the car I was sold was a code 3 vehicle and I could not trade the vehicle in nor sell it. My question is how was this allowed ? How did it slip through the cracks and when I called in to query the matter I was advised that BMW SA can't assist at all.

How is it that both BMW and Standard Bank did not do their due diligence to protect the client in this instance.

It's really pathetic and disappointing
