From great to sour

Last Friday evening I was heading out of town with my wife and baby on a weekend away, when my car gave a Drive Train Error. I called BMW Assist whom were extremely helpful on how to handle the Error. I was fortunate to be close enough to SMG BMW Canal Walk as I was still able to drive my car at a moderate rate. I arrived at SMG at about 17h30. I headed inside to discuss the error and was sent straight to the work shop who said, "sorry we closed we can’t help". I appreciate that as I know they close at 5pm. Darren, one of the Sales team members was someone that I need to commend. He approached me after my visit to the Work shop and asked if he could assist. I explained the situation to him and he advised me that I need to call BMW Assist again and request a hire car for 5 days as I would not be able to use my car. He suggested I leave it there until Monday when it can go into the work shop. I went back and forth with BMW assist whom were very helpful in getting a replacement car organised. What did however concern me was that eventually at 18h40 I received a call from the hire company telling me I need to get to the airport to pick up the car. I found this quite odd as I assumed the car would be dropped off at SMG. This meant that I had to get my baby and my wife to Canal Walk shopping centre and find my way to the airport. Fortunately once again Darren from SMG told me not to worry and that he would take me himself. So after all of this I picked up the hire car and returned to SMG after 8pm to remove all our luggage and baby chair from my car. This was now too late to take a 2 hour drive to our holiday destination. Thus we lost out on 1 nights accommodation. I got a call Monday morning from SMG telling me my car would be going in to start the evaluation and what needed to be done. After back and forth calls I was eventually advised on Wednesday (Day 5) that my car has finally been authorised to get fixed. This meant that because it was now day 5 I needed to hand my replacement car back and even though SMG tried to assist I was not offered a vehicle by them or when discussing with BMW SA I was told sorry, your car has to be within the 2 year warranty to get the car hire extended. Just left a bad taste that after all of this I needed to rent a car for rest of the period. At no time did BMW SA show any interest in my costs lost.
