False fuel claims by BMW

<p>I purchased a brand new BMW 220I from SMG Umhlanga. With a rated combined consumption of 5.7l/100kms and an ever increasing fuel prices, in comparison to other vehicles in this price range, it seemed like a good deal.</p> <p> </p> <p>Unfortunately, from the first month I noticed the car achieving nowhere close the average consumption. 12l/100kms was the more realistic figure and costs me more than double than expected. I re-iterated to BMW that this is not hard driving and worse than any other car I've owned.</p> <p> </p> <p>Initial tests by the dealership on the same model over a distance of about 79kms achieved 14l/kms and admittingly by them that the model is heavy on fuel.</p> <p> </p> <p>I reported this to BMW SA but another test they claimed 4.8 l / 100kms. I asked for proof of how this was achieved, my query was ignored!</p> <p> </p> <p>I further complained to Advertising Board of South Africa, BMW SA was ordered to update their ads, yet consumers who purchased this model with very bad fuel consumption are stuck with the vehicle and bearing the costs of false advertising.</p> <p> </p> <p>For a vehicle priced at R500k, the service levels and consumer satisfaction from BMW is poor, and very poor feeback from BMW customer service.</p> <p> </p>
