Dont buy a BMW or MINI

I purchased a Mini JCW Countryman from MINI in August 2024 and paid a R100,000 deposit, followed by R120,000 in instalments over the past year. Despite this substantial financial commitment, I am now facing a deeply disappointing experience with BMW South Africa. When exploring the option of giving back the vehicle, I was shocked by the unreasonably low trade-in offers I received. Two separate dealerships have declined to buy back the vehicle entirely, which raises serious concerns about the brand’s value retention and post-sale support. The reason I’m looking to return the vehicle is practical: we currently reside in St Lucia, where the car is seldom used. Our plan is to relocate back to our house in Pretoria within the next two years, at which point I had intended to purchase another BMW. However, due to this poor experience, I will no longer consider BMW or MINI as a future option. As an admin of four online communities totaling over 230,000 members, I feel compelled to share my experience and warn potential buyers. This is not defamation—it is a factual account of my dealings, and I believe it is in the public interest to raise awareness. I urge BMW Financial Services South Africa to review their trade-in policies and customer support practices. This experience has been unfair, frustrating, and unacceptable, especially for a loyal customer who had every intention of remaining with the brand. This is a MINI 2023 John Copper Works Countryman, with only 11 000km on the clock - and not even BMW wants to buy it back?? Really shocking - because the car is really fantastic. I am really disappointed. I welcome a response and resolution to this matter.
