BMW not a dream car, it's a nightmare.

This is my perception from owning several cars from BMW: Before it happened to me, had I heard about an intake manifold exploding I would have thought they were joking. But such are the strange things that happen if companies are only interested in the bottom line and use plastic where metal was used before. Research on the net reveals that this not only occurs with the X3 which I unfortunately own, but all models with the Vanos system, which also has it's own failures. But this is only the latest breakage. Barring the under warranty repairs, in less than 5 years transfer box twice, then prop-shaft, then side-shaft and now BOOOOOOOM!!!, literally. Internet research also yielded news of spontaneously igniting cars from BMW, which just started burning while parked anything from minutes to days later. To my problem as to all others, the usual rhetoric is spewed by employees of this once revered brand. The fame is of course perception, cost does not equal quality materials and reliability. Look at any BMW and the problems fixed under warranty,(available from BMW via VIN number) and you will see why the car is so expensive. It is to cover the extra costs. After that, forget it, they are going to gouge all the money they can out of you, and the way they design the cars are so you have very little choice. If they have investigated the cause of the intake manifold blowing apart, and other problems, they are keeping quiet about it, and then quoting the usual about servicing etc. flimsy excuses.
